The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2020 did not disappoint! Each year, this trade show grows in new product display, vendor quality, and wow-factor. Manufacturers bring their latest and greatest and we get to soak up the new trends and count down the days for product releases. This year, we noticed a welcome trend paying homage to design styles of the past. Many companies were embracing traditional concepts and putting an innovative spin on the classics, making them relevant and relate-able for new audiences. Keep reading to hear some of our favorite new trends!
Color Galore
Over the last several years, color has been making its way back into the limelight. From cabinets, to sinks, appliances to lights, color is taking center stage. While white is still timeless (and not leaving the scene), we’re seeing an emergence of color and pattern. Green was the hit “new neutral” at KBIS this year. Anything from a bold Emerald to a soft gray-green could be seen throughout the show floor. Kohler also showcased several patterned, textured, or colored plumbing fixtures, bringing a spark of personality to those more permanent pieces.
Mixing Metals
Brushed brass and gold debuted as a popular “new” finish a few years ago. The warm tones are showing staying power and are popping up on both contemporary and traditional fixtures. Brands are adding this finish to more and more of their lines, so it’s becoming easier to find just the right faucet or drawer pull to fit your home. Black is another finish that is here to stay and becoming more available throughout brand families. Want to take it to the next level? Mix the two finishes together for a unique look.
Bath Fixtures
Looking for a new suite for your bath? DXV is launching a line that celebrates the octagon and puts a fresh twist on the iconic 1920s faucet. The entire line features the elongated octagon, from the sink bowl to the tub to the escutcheon plates. It is obsession worthy! Watch for the Belshire to hit stores in Third Quarter.
Hot Water Taps
Finally! Beauty has made its way to the hot water tap! For years, there has been a disconnect between the main faucet and the hot water dispenser. In-Sink-Erator (big brand in instant hots and garbage disposals) has a new line hitting the shelves later this year. Their Showroom Collection will provide a wider range of style and finish options to compliment popular faucet designs. Brizo is joining in on the fun and will have a line of coordinating taps available this fall. These will work with In-Sink-Erator instant hot system as well.
